About the British Virgin Islands

For decades we’ve lived and breathed the British Virgin Islands (BVI) and we’ve enjoyed sharing our love with sailors and non-sailors alike since 1998. When you charter a yacht with Horizon Yacht Charters BVI, we provide you with an immaculately maintained monohull or catamaran, the best means to explore the islands and have a wonderful vacation. On your BVI sailing vacation you will experience white sand beaches, gentle trade winds, crystal clear waters and friendly people wherever you go.

About the BVI – 60 Islands

The British Virgin Islands consists of approximately 60 islands and cays, the most populated of which are Tortola and Virgin Gorda. Horizon Yacht Charters’ base is located at Nanny Cay Marina on Tortola, three miles west of Road Town, the capital of the BVI. Tortola is easily accessible from the USA, UK and Europe via Puerto Rico, Antigua or St Thomas in the nearby US Virgin Islands (just a short, scenic ferry ride or private water taxi away).

Horizon Base

Nanny Cay Resort and Marina offers every comfort before and after your charter. A shore-side pool, four restaurants, a beach with snorkeling reef, boutiques, a dive shop, two provisioning stores and reasonably-priced, comfortable accommodation at The Nanny Cay Hotel are all within a few steps of your boat. A true destination for your BVI Sailing Vacation! Not only that, but we are a short reach across the channel from Norman Island, Peter Island and Cooper Island, giving you various options on your first day of charter.

The perfect Caribbean sailing destination

The British Virgin Islands are considered by many to be the perfect Caribbean sailing destination for first-time sailboat charterers, with calm seas, constant trade winds and line-of-sight navigation. This makes it a great destination to learn to sail and get ASA certified! Experienced sailors will also enjoy the wealth of different islands to visit, including the coral island of Anegada. There are hundreds of stunning anchorages and secure, well-maintained moorings in the BVI to explore. The itineraries provided are just an example of some of the places you might visit on the way.

Cruising Guide & Chart Briefing

Once your charter is booked, we know you’ll be eager to start learning all about the BVI and plotting your course which is why we have created an in-depth chart briefing video available for you online. We also provide and recommend the Cruising Guide to the Virgin Islands as a great publication for planning your BVI yacht charter. This invaluable book provides aerial photographs of all the yacht moorings in the BVI along with the quiet anchorages, comprehensive information on restaurants and shore-side facilities as well as a fold-out chart. You will find a reference copy on board your yacht and it is also available for purchase from our base.

Horizon Yacht Charters gives you more with our Members Club Card

In appreciation of your patronage, we have established a programme with various businesses dotted around the islands that gives you added value to your BVI yacht charters. Upon your arrival at our base, you will be issued with the Card which can be used straight away by any member of your sailing group. Simply present your card at participating outlets to take advantage of the discounts and offers specifically designed to give you more when you sail with Horizon Yacht Charters.
